RatStat will provide a flexible and easy statistical interface using R as backend. Researcher will both be able to use to user friendliness of SPSS with the open source flexibility of R. RatStat provides an easy plugin interface making it possible to develop a new statistical function in just a few lines of code.

RatStat is written in Python, the user interface uses Qt and Rpy (1) is used for interfacing with R.
