GNU nano is an enhanced clone of the Pico text editor

GNU nano is a free replacement for Pico, the default Pine editor. Pine was copyrighted under a restrictive licence, that made it unsuitable for Debian's main section. GNU nano provides a free, Pico-like editor, but also includes several features that were missing in the original, such as undo/redo, line numbering, syntax coloring, interactive search and replace, soft-wrapping of overlong lines, and internationalization support.
