John, normally called john the ripper, is a tool to find weak passwords of your users, and even mail them automatically if you want.
John the ripper is a password cracking tool. The tool is used to identify weak user passwords. The tool supports dictonary attacks against DES, MD5, Kerberos AFS passwords, Windows LM hashes, extended DES from BSDI and Blowfish from OpenBSD
