PPA description

Chromium 119.0.6045.123 builds (latest stable release) for Xenial & newer.

UPDATE (17 May 2023): Finally resolved all build failures for v113 on all series except 16.04 Xenial (which will take more work due old libc 2.23).

*** Install ***

These builds require PipeWire >= 0.3.1 which is available at the FFmpeg 4 PPA (has FFmpeg 4.4.x, latest libva, plus more) and also at the Multimedia PPA (ppa:savoury1/multimedia). Recommended steps to successfully install:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/ffmpeg4
  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/chromium
  sudo apt-get update
  sudo apt-get install chromium-browser

Updated DRM (2.4.116), GLVND (1.6.0), and Mesa (23.1.9) are at the display PPA. For these upgrades add the next command to the top of the list above:

  sudo add-apt-repository ppa:savoury1/display

Note that the display PPA makes changes to critical parts of the system so as always make sure to do a full backup first, before doing the upgrades!
